(HOUSTON, Texas, 7/12/16) – Today the Houston Texas office of the Council on American Islamic Relations will join interfaith and community leaders in a prayer vigil at the First Shiloh Baptist Church, 4420 Lyons Avenue, Houston, Texas 77020 at 7:00pm to offer prayers for those who lost love ones in Louisiana, Minnesota and Dallas due to the recent rash of violence, and to pray for unity in the community.
Reverend John Fields, Senior Pastor of First Shiloh said,”We are praying for calm as well as for wisdom in dealing with these community issues. The prayer vigil offers community leaders and others an opportunity to stand in solidarity for the common good. Please consider this a personal invitation to come and be a part of this great effort”.
CAIR-Houston Executive Director Mustafaa Carroll said, “The only way we can begin to solve issues within our community is through unity and working together to understand each other, and developing optimal ways of eradicating issues that have plagued our community for years.”
