Eid Ul-Adha Excuse Letter

August 15, 2018

TO WHOMEVER IT MAY CONCERN:

Eid-ul-Adha is a very significant and important holiday for all Muslims. It is celebrated at the end of Hajj, the annual pilgrimage to Mecca. The ‘Festival of Sacrifice’ is followed by a ‘Feast of Sacrifice’, which pays homage to Prophet Abraham’s unselfish act of sacrificing his son, Ishmael, to God. In turn, God spared the boy’s life and instead, substituted a sacrificial sheep. In remembrance, Muslims sacrifice a lamb, goat, or other animal, and give the meat to family, friends, relatives, and most importantly, the poor.

This year the three day celebration begins on August 21, 2018. This holiday is celebrated all across the United States of America with communal prayers, community gatherings, and the tradition of dressing up in special clothes to visit friends and relatives. People hold Eid parties and give presents to their children.

Muslims need to be excused during this period in order for them to partake in this celebration.

Thank you for your cooperation.
